Our qualified tailoress have over 40 years experience in the industry and offer a friendly and personal service that can meet all of your needs.
Our shop in Barnard Castle has a wide range of high quality products in stock and we have many for sale here on our website. Here you will find high quality, affordable womenswear, menswear and gifts including ties, cufflinks or vouchers for those special occasions.
Founded in 2004 by Fiona Brookes, trained tailoress with 40 years experience.
Colleague Sharon – 41 years experience.
Both Fiona and Sharon trained for 5 years with Kenneth Brown, who himself trained on Savile Row, and was a tailor with a well-established tailoring business in Barnard Castle before he retired. We offer a friendly, personal service with bespoke tailoring on the premises using well-known cloth makes such as Holland & Sherry, Scabal, Dugdale, Lessers & Lovat Mill. Handworked buttonholes and stitched edges. Collars and sleeves attached by hand.

Meet our team
Fiona
Founder and director of Brookes Outfitters & Tailors Ltd. We wouldn't be here without her and she really is the glue to the business. She has grown her business into what you see today all while being a wife and raising 4 beautiful children. Like everyone says 'it takes a village to raise a child' and she certainly had an amazing one. She is fully a trained tailoress as well having many other talents within the business.
Sharon
Is the tailoress who has worked alongside with Fiona from the formation of the business. She trained along with Fiona at Browns in Barnard Castle run by the late Kenneth Brown, who trained in Saville Row London. The two of them work as a team, each bringing their respective talents to the fore. A knowledgeable and patient saleswomen Sharon is ready to give her expertise to our bespoke clients as well as casual customers, so make sure to bring your credit card if you find yourself with her.
Alex
Is our account/ sales assistant and a steady influence on us all, especially when the buying team are getting a little too extravagant when ordering new seasons stock. Alex is definitely the quietest of us all but she enjoys the chaos that Fiona, Sharon and Ellen brings.
Ellen
The baby of the team she is our sales assistant, buyer and does all of our social media content. She has a smiley and bubbly character but don't cross her when she's having a bad day. Ellen knows her stock extremely well so if in doubt just ask and she will be able to help you find the perfect piece that you are looking for.

FAQs
How long does it take to get a suit made?
Getting a bespoke suit made usually takes 8-12 weeks, however we can work to deadlines.
How much does a bespoke suit cost?
A 2 piece mans suit is a starting price of £1200 it all depends on the cloth that you choose.
A 3 piece mans suit is a starting price of £1500, same again it all depends on the cloth that you choose.
Can I pick up online orders in store?
Yes, just click the collect in store at checkout and we will usually have your order ready if a few hours. You will receive a email conformation letting you know it ready.
How often do you put sales on?
Our sales are usually twice a year, one at the end of summer and the other straight after Christmas. All genuine sales.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes we offer a range of different value gift vouchers for both the clothing we sell and for bespoke items.
Do you have a hire service?
Yes we use Cameron Ross Hire wear who offer a range of different suits for men. You can build your own outfit on their website (https://www.sortmyweddingoutfit.com/cameronross/OutfitBuilder?CGH=5-285B1CA2) then come into us to get measured and put your order in.
Delivery & Returns Policy
Delivery UK, we use Royal Mail Tracked 48 service which should be with you in 2-3 working days. We ticpcally send out orders the same day or next day depending on when you placed your order.
Delivery Rest of the world, we use Royal Mail and depending on where you are depends on how long it will take to get to you.
Our delivery charge is a flat rate of £5.99 but you do have the option to collect your order from us in store.
Returns -
If you are wanting to make a return, that makes us sad that you are not happy with your order however it is very simple. Returns are at the customers own cost and must be in it's original condition, with tags still attacted and unworn, to how we sent it out to you.
You can send it however you wish as long as it comes to us in its original condition. I do strongly recommend to keep your proof of postage.
We have a 14 day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it.
If you do wish to send anything back to us please contact us via email first to let us know, at info@brookestailors.com. Then you can send to this address:

Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Damages and issues -
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exchanges -
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
Delivery costs are non-refundable.
